Avanti R4 Introduction
While looking for the Avantis preproduction problems to be solved, Andy Granatelli dreamed up the Avanti R4's engine. The R4 was a superior sport of the unsupercharged R1 locomotive, as the R3 was a hi-po R2.
Although the R4 locomotive was elective in 1964, none were produced before the Avanti was breaked by Studebaker in December 1963 after the works was ended.
The Avanti R4 has OHV, V-8 engine with 6 valves producing output of 280 bhp at 5000 rpm and 3-speed manual transmission system is available.
