Avanti II Introduction
Studebaker Company had built about 20 avantis in a day. Atman built 45 in 1965, 59 in 1966, 66 in 1967, and 100 in 1968. Altman marked the resurrected automobile Avanti II.
The locomotive is an overhead-valve V-8 displacing 305 cu in. and putting away a good 155 bhp. It's felted to GM's 4-speed smart transmission. The chassis design is very straightforward, with an independent front end and a live rear axle.
The Studebakers dealer Nate Altman was able to secure all Avanti tooling, assembly plant, body production from molded fiberglass and required credit.
The Avanti II went on dealing, practically unchanged, from 18 years. But the 1983's Avanti II was little changed from older models, for plain reasons, and the drivetrain is purchased from General Motors, to support keep prices downward, of way.
